Aviatrix Systems Appoints Three Vice Presidents to Executive Team

Experienced leaders hired for engineering, marketing and business development to help accelerate business growth.
PALO ALTO, Calif., August 28, 2017

Aviatrix, a pioneer in cloud networking, today announced that it has hired three vice presidents to its executive management team: Frank Cabri as vice president of marketing; Jim Fitzgerald as vice president of business development, and Steve Garritano as vice president of engineering.

“Frank’s deep management and marketing expertise, Jim’s business development leadership and Steve’s engineering savvy will all help Aviatrix move from a successful startup to an established hybrid cloud networking vendor and trusted partner,” said Steven Mih, the company’s chief executive officer.

Purpose-built for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform environments, Aviatrix software is fully integrated with these cloud providers enabling networking to become just as dynamic and agile as compute and storage. According to Mih, Aviatrix is reinventing connectivity for the cloud era by radically simplifying and securing cloud connectivity.

Industry opinion leaders seem to agree. For example, the company was named a 2017 “cool vendor”—in the Cloud Computing and Emerging Technologies category—by Gartner Inc. CRN magazine named Aviatrix one of “The 10 Coolest Networking Startups Of 2017 (So Far).” And Network Computing magazine made Aviatrix one of “10 Networking Startups to Watch in 2017.” Additionally, Nutanix and Aviatrix recently announced a partnership that allows enterprises to automate connectivity between hyperconverged private cloud environments and popular public clouds.

Mih said that the skills Cabri, Fitzgerald and Garritano bring to Aviatrix are crucial to the company’s momentum and efforts toward helping enterprises better manage operations in hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.

Cabri Responsible for Marketing

With more than 20 years of experience, Frank Cabri was most recently vice president of marketing for Imperva’s Cloud Access Security business. Prior to Imperva, Cabri was vice president of worldwide marketing at Centrify, where he led the planning and execution of the company's brand, go-to-market strategies, demand marketing and product marketing teams for identity management across cloud, mobile and data center. Cabri holds an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a bachelor of science degree in international business from San Jose State University.

Fitzgerald Handles Business Development

Jim Fitzgerald brings more than 27 years of experience to Aviatrix, joining from Maxta, where as vice president of OEM and channels he closed strategic deals with Lenovo, Intel and SYNNEX and also led China Sales. Fitzgerald was founder and CEO of SteelEye Technology, a data protection leader, which he successfully sold to SIOS Technology. Fitzgerald also held business development, sales and marketing positions with Nexenta Systems, System Fabric Works and Global Bay Mobile Technology. Earlier, he had an accomplished career at Sun Microsystems in a variety of sales and marketing positions, finally serving as SunSoft’s senior director of business development. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Boston College and an MBA from New York University.

Garritano Runs Engineering

Prior to joining Aviatrix, Steve Garritano spent more than 20 years as a senior engineering executive in networking and cybersecurity companies. He was most recently vice president of engineering for Cisco, and he has also worked at PhishLabs, RedSeal and RouteScience where he was responsible for the research and development of their network, security, monitoring and risk assessment products. Garritano also has extensive experience leading customer support and IT operations.
